Bhuvaneswari : The
naked truth!
Shakila's 'Vaseekaraa' spelling trouble for Vijay's 'Vaseekaraa'!
|
Wow 'Dhool'!
The 'Dhil' team is repeating
itself again with Vikram- director Charan- music director Vidhyasagar uniting to
make 'Dhool'.
Tamil
cinema hasn't heard a voice like that before.
'Ini whistle parakkum thaanae
yen paerandi Madurai Veeran thaanae'
A voice with the frequency and amplitude that you heard in tea-stalls before is
now going on screen. The voice belongs to 60 year old 'Paravai' Muniamma who
sings the 'Madurai veeranthaanae' song in the film. Mark our words- pretty soon,
this song is going to be the rage like 'O podu' was.
The upbeat songs of 'Dhool' reflect music director Vidhyasagar's inclination
towards folk tunes. When the ears hear songs and phrases like 'Kovilpatti
murukkae', 'Thillalangu langu', and 'Yei indhaa', feet start dancing by
themselves.
We feel sorry for the theatres that are going to screen the film. The audience
is going to go in a collective trance when they play this song. The theatre
owners have to protect the theatre's white screens and its cushioned seats in
order to send the next set of audience into trance. (From now on, this song will
be regularly featured during all temple festivals across the state. This will be
the finale` song.)
Udit
Narayan is someone you can't live with or live without either. He is the savior
of the songs he sings and he is the terrorist for some of the songs that he
sings thanks to his pronunciation. He has done a fantastic job with lyricist Pa
Vijay's 'Iththoondu muththathil ishtamirukka' song. Our guess is that the song
has Jyothika frolicking with Vikram in the film. The guess is triggered off by
the lyrics of the song- 'Palingu idupporam unnoda Kozuppu satthu koopiduthu' (
'the fold of fat on the side of your marble white hip is inviting me')
You don't have a choice but to believe us when we say that Vidhyasagar has
become Deva.
In the song, 'Kundu knundu' he had cloned Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' song shamelessly.
Most of you Netizens would be aware of this blatant copy when you hear the song,
so this will not be that impressive. Otherwise, this is one of the songs you
wouldn't mind hearing in a movie hall.
'Aasai aasai ippodhu' sounds similar to the melodious 'Un samaiyal araiyil'
song. Still, Sujatha's attractive voice retains its magnetism and saves the song
from going unnoticed. Shankar Mahadevan had done something he had never done
before- he usually gets carried away when he starts singing and lapses into a
solo vocal rendition. This time, he has restrained himself from doing it and has
struck to the composition. Surprising, indeed!
Vidhyasagar seems to specialize in giving a little bit of Western dosage to the
folk tune realism. 'Yendha kappakizangae' belongs to the list. The dance
choreographer has let his imagination run wild while choreographing the song.
'Koduvaa
meesai' follows the 'Dhil dhil' style. It's tiresome to hear a continuous list
of all the things that are 'dhool' (fantastic). The superstition obsessed
industry didn't want to disturb the 'lucky' vibe so they have made Manikka
Vinayagam (the one who sang the song in 'Dhil') sing this song too.
'Dhool's songs are not aimed at appealing to your musical aesthetic senses. They
are just made in order to fill the producer's collection boxes.
Of the six songs, three will stay in your memory while you watch the film. The
moment you step outside the hall, you won't remember them.
But, 'Iththoondu muththam' and 'Aasai aasai' songs will stay in memory for a
short while before they fade into oblivion. However, the song sung by 'Paravai'
Muniamma, ' Madurai veeran thaanae', will be around for a very long time and
make the listener dance to its extremely infectious tempo and energy.
Aishwarya Rai Goes Global.
Makes her debut in Hollywood.
Hollywood- a film world that actors and performers all around the world only
dream of. The kind of fame and recognition that a Hollywood film brings in to a
performer is unbelievable.
Cine industry's dream world is all set to welcome our very own actress and
former Ms World Aishwarya Rai.
Aishwarya herself clarifies about rumors that have been steadily surfacing in
Bollywood.
"The negotiations with American movie companies look promising. From there, I
have brought with me some scripts that are very good. I'm going to go through
each of them carefully and choose a script that suits me. Most probably, by June
or July 2003, I will begin working in Hollywood.
"The first reason why I'm going to Hollywood is to highlight the Indian talents.
Otherwise, acting in an English film is like acting in any other film for me. I
had been to the US to participate in some charity functions organized by NGO's.
That was when I had the chance to discuss with film companies there. 'Devdas'
had earned a good status for me in that country.
"I have to like the story and my role in it. I have to feel comfortable about
working with the director too. Else, I wouldn't accept the film." Aishwarya Rai
has promised to all a Press conference to reveal the details of her first
Hollywood venture soon.
This is not the first time an Indian is acting in Hollywood films. Bollywood
stars have already stepped into Hollywood, but none has been ale to survive for
long. The way Aishwarya Rai is planning her debut, it looks as if she doesn't
intend to return to India without sweeping Hollywood off its feet.
But, Rai had been strictly against onscreen kisses and glam poses. Let's see if
she is able to stick to these principles once she goes to Hollywood.
"KS Ravikumar is not
directing Rajini's next film"- Sarath Kumar
Actor
Sarath Kumar met the Press at a specially arranged conference at Le Meredian. At
the conference, he announced that KS Ravikumar is not the one who is going to
direct Rajini's next film.
He launched the flag and emblem of the All India Sarath Kumar Fan Club. While
addressing the gathering, he said,
"I want to act in a variety of roles. I'm looking for roles that are very
different and that would get me a national award for my performance. I'm doing a
film that is being produced by SS Durai Raju for Mass Movie Makers. KS Ravikumar
is directing that film.
On behalf of director KS Ravikumar, I deny the rumors that he is going to direct
Rajini's next film. He is directing my next film."
